| The Event The Great Race of Agoura was established in 1986 by a group of parents looking to raise money for their children's elementary schools. Now professionally produced by Endurance Events and in its 25th year, The Great Race of Agoura Hills is one of the largest running events in the Los Angeles area and continues to donate to many schools in Agoura Hills and Oak Park. The Great Race was voted as Best Running Event in L.A. in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, the Don't Miss Event in L.A. in 2004 and the Best Post Race Party in L.A. in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Pacific Half Marathon starts at Paramount Ranch (map). There is no race day pick up for the Pacific Half Marathon. (This start is 3.5 miles away from Chumash Park). Parking for the Pacific Half Marathon is at Paramount Ranch. Kids 1 Mile and Family Fun Run start on Argos Street at Chumash Park. | Chesebro Half Marathon HOT! This race always sells out. Sign up early to reserve your space in 2010! This is a unique run that traverses both road and trails. It wanders through Old Agoura down Chesebro Road and onto the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. (Yes, the road is Chesebro and the trail is Cheeseboro). Important, please note: If the National Park Service decides to close all or parts of the trails, an alternative half marathon route will be run instead. Deena grew up running in The Great Race. She won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Olympics and holds U.S. records for the 5K, 8K, 10K, 15K, half marathon and marathon. | Kids 1 Mile & Family Fun Run FUN! For kids ages 6-12, the Kids 1 Mile is one of the largest kids runs in California. It's a celebration of youth fitness! All racers are awarded a medal at the finish! This is a kids-only race. Note to parents: The course is closed to vehicles, safe and supervised.
