The Event
The Great Race of Agoura was established in 1986 by a group of parents looking to raise money for their children's elementary schools. Now professionally produced by Endurance Events and in its 23rd year, The Great Race of Agoura Hills is one of the largest running events in the Los Angeles area and continues to raise money for eight schools of Agoura Hills and Oak Park.

The Great Race was voted as Best Running Event in L.A. in 2005 and 2006, the Don't Miss Event in L.A. in 2004 and the Best Post Race Party in L.A. in 2002, 2003. 2004, 2005 and 2006. Sign up and you'll experience why The Great Race is truly GREAT. The Great Race is more than just a morning run. Maybe it's the outstanding courses or the exceptional organization or maybe it's the T-shirt or the stuffed goodie bag or the outstanding sports gear at the silent auction and raffle or maybe the plentiful variety of food and refreshments or maybe the professional computerized chip timing or the crowd cheering you on at the finish or the camaraderie of a community event. Chesebro Half Marathon
This race always sells out. Sign up early to reserve your space in 2008! This is a unique run that traverses both road and trails. It wanders through Old Agoura down Chesebro Road and onto the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. (Yes, the road is Chesebro and the trail is Cheeseboro). Important, please note: If the National Park Service decides to close all or parts of the trails, an alternative half marathon route will be run instead. Sign up early as this race is capped at 1,200 and will sell out.

Old Agoura 10K
The 10K runs adjacent to Cheeseboro Canyon at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and meanders through the horse community of Old Agoura. Enjoy one of the most scenic road races in California!

Deena Kastor 5K
The Great Race is proud to name its 5K after former Agoura High School standout Deena Kastor, who set the 5K WORLD RECORD at 14:54 in 2002. Deena grew up running in The Great Race. She won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Olympics and holds U.S. records for the 5K, 8K, 10K, 15K, half marathon and marathon.

Kids 1 Mile & Family Fun Run
For kids ages 6-12, the Kids 1 Mile is one of the largest kids runs in California. It's a celebration of youth fitness! All racers are awarded a medal at the finish! This is a kids-only race. Note to parents: Yes, the course is safe and supervised.

The Family Fun Run/Walk immediately follows the Kids Mile and runs the same course and is fun for all ages!

Do the Double 15K
With staggered start times, you can run two races. The Deena Kastor 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. and the Old Agoura 10K starts at 8:35 a.m. Total distance of the two races combined is 15K. Select "5K + 10K = 15K" on the entry form. Do note though, that when you enter this, you are entering two distinct races for one set entry fee. We do not offer a continuous 15K course.

Course Support

Half Marathon: 4 water stations, plus 1 energy station with energy gel, water and electrolyte drink at station.
5K: 1 Water station
10K: 3 Water stations
Split times at each mile of 5K and 10K
Mile markers at each mile of 5K & 10K
Mile markers at the road miles of the half marathon (Miles 1, 2, 3, 11, 12 & 13). No mile markers on the trails. Feel free to ask the race course marshals on the trails what mile you are at.

Pick Up & Last Minute Registration:

You must pick up your timing chip, bib, T-shirt and goodie bag on April 3, 4 or 5. It will not be mailed to you. Avoid race day lines and pick up your T-shirt, goodie bag, race bib and timing chip in advance. We highly recommend picking up early. You must present your government issued photo ID to pick up your goods. You may pick up for someone else but must bring a photocopy of their photo ID in order to do so.

Race Day Pick Up & Registration

Race-day registration and race-day pick up at Chumash Park outside Agoura High School Stadium starting at 6 a.m. Check above for race start times. Race day registration and pick up lines tend to be long. Plan ahead and arrive early. You should arrive at registration/pick up no later than 30 minutes before the start of your race but at least 60 minutes before to allow for a more comfortable registration and warming up.

The 30 age group winners (1st place in each age group) take home V-Moda Bass Freq or Remix Headphones for the iPod or other digital music player (Approximate retail value is $50 per prize)

Old Agoura 10K:

$7,500 in prizes!
High-end digital audio and video equipment to top three overall men and top three overall women provided by Evolution Audio and Video.

1. First place male and first place female: Anthony Gallo Acoustics Micro 5.1 Speaker/Subwoofer System valued at $1,210 each.

2. Second place male and second place female: Integra DTR-4.6 Digital Sound Receiver valued at $600 each.

The 22 age group runner-ups (2nd place in each age group) win a Kool Kit from Kool 'N Fit. (Approximate retail value is $25 per prize). Kool 'N Fit Sport Spray will be on the Half Marathon course at approximately mile 8.5.

One prize per winner, no double dipping.

Kids 1 Mile:
Top three overall boys and top three overall girls win a $25 gift certificate to Future Track Running Center, Agoura Hills.
